Automatic Detection of Fetal Nasal Bone in 2 Dimensional Ultrasound Image Using Map Matching

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Recent study shows that fetal chromosomal abnormalities can be detected in early ultrasonic prenatal screening by identifying the absence of fetus nasal bone. The drawbacks of current method are operator dependent, observer variability and its inefficiency. In particular, accurate nasal bone detection requires highly trained sonographers and obstetrics and gynecology specialists since the ultrasound markers may easily confuse with noise and echogenic line in ultrasound image background. We present a computerized method of detecting the absent of nasal bone by using map matching computerized method. Image preprocessing is implemented prior map matching based on image correlation to assess the availability of nasal bone. The resultant threshold bordering the absent and present of nasal bone is set to value 0.35. The threshold can be further improved if a larger set of nasal bone ultrasound images applied. Assessment of the fetal nasal bone at 11-14 weeks of gestation by three-dimensional ultrasound.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the benefit of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound in the examination of the fetal nasal bone at 11-14 weeks of gestation. METHOD We examined the fetal nasal bone in 120 stored volumes acquired transabdominally with a 3D scanner from singleton pregnancies at 11-14 weeks of gestation. The volume acquisition had been performed following conventional ultrasound examination th...

Standard edge detection algorithms versus conventional auto-contouring used for a three-dimensional rigid CT-CT matching

Background: To reduce uncertainties of patient positioning, the Computerized Tomography (CT) images acquired at the treatment planning time can be compared with those images obtained during radiation dose delivery. This can be followed during dose delivery procedure as Image Guided radiotherapy (IGRT) to verify the prescribed radiation dose delivery to the target as well as to monitor ...

Assessment of the gap between the fetal nasal bones at 11 to 13 + 6 weeks of gestation by three-dimensional ultrasound.

OBJECTIVE To detect the presence of a gap between the fetal nasal bones at 11 to 13 + 6 weeks of gestation and to verify if this gap could lead to the erroneous diagnosis of absent nasal bone. METHODS Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound was used to assess the fetal nose in 450 singleton pregnancies, immediately after two-dimensional (2D) evaluation of the nasal bones and screening for chromosom...

Diagnostic evaluation of the fetal face using 3-dimensional ultrasound.

Evaluation of the fetal face with 3-dimensional ultrasound allows for evaluation of the fetal face using surface rendering, multiplanar and multislice displays. Three-dimensional ultrasound offers many benefits in evaluating the fetal face because it can be rotated into a standard symmetrical orientation and reviewed millimeters by millimeters by scrolling through the volumes. New rendering too...
